A Message from Jack Hauseman

Welcome to my campaign website. I hope you will take the time to read my biography and platform information. I believe my qualifications as a successful financial manager in the private sector, together with my past EXPERIENCE as a community volunteer, Public School Trustee, and 5 term East Gwillimbury Councillor, has prepared me well for the responsibilities I will assume on Council over the next 4 years.

But experience is only 50% of the equation. Your new Council must have a clear and attainable VISION FOR THE FUTURE with a clear GOAL to provide lean, efficient, and cost effective local governance, meeting the needs of both new and existing residents. I want to be a TEAM PLAYER on our new Council, using the collective talents and abilities of myself and my colleagues to provide good local government services and support for the efforts of our dedicated volunteers.

During the next 4 years, East Gwillimbury will undergo unprecedented growth as the Greater Toronto area continues to expand . We must insure that as we grow, we stick to the policies and objectives outlined in both our Strategic and Official plans, insuring that residents of our town continue to enjoy a choice of urban and rural lifestyles, while respecting our fragile environment. The cost of new growth must be paid for by increases in our tax base, and not on the backs of existing taxpayers. By sticking to our phasing policies, we'll make sure we have BALANCED GROWTH, providing new and existing residents a balance of residential and commercial development, creating employment opportunities, and insuring our Town does not become just another bedroom community in the Greater Toronto area.

As a candidate for Councillor, I will not accept campaign donations from developers, or corporations or individuals related to the development industry. During this crucial time of growth, it's important that your new members of Council remain independent and accountable only to the residents of East Gwillimbury.

In 2010 I ran for Mayor of our town. I would like to thank the more than 30% of voters who supported my candidacy. As a private citizen over the past 4 years, I've had the opportunity to step back and refocus on how our Town Government can play a significant role in determining a bright future for East Gwillimbury. On October 27th, I ask for your support and vote as Councillor so that together, we can make our town an even better place to live, work and play.

Yours sincerely

Jack Hauseman
